| Sex Therapy in Washington D.C. Wilcox Sex Therapy: A Sensuous Comedy Screens at the D.C. Shorts Film Festival This September July 4th, 2009: The new short film Wilcox Sex Therapy screens in Washington D.C. September 12th 2009 as an official selection of DC Shorts Film Festival in the festival's special midnight adult screening 18+. The film is about an alcoholic sex therapist who sleeps with his clients. Directed by Daniel Gruen, a recent film studies graduate of the Univseristy of California Santa Barbara. Executive producer William Dear, director of classics like Angels in the Outfield and Harry & the Hendersons, became a mentor to the young crew, most of which were still in film school at the time of the shoot. Dear explains what attracted him to the story, “I like the fact that the people are real, and the dialog is real. The best comedy comes out of life and isn’t forced. If you’re laughing at it you’re probably thinking, wow I’ve been in that position.” The talented cast features Santa Barbara local David Brainard as sex therapist Charlie Wilcox. Also starring Bryce Bommer, Chad W. Evans, Marian Zapico, Benjamin Butzon, Stephen Cirieco, Oliver Dear, Michelle Frey, Jennifer Jones, & Meghan Noone.
